Rafael Nadal admitted that he’s struggling to find his world-beating clay court form after scraping out a second straight narrow win at the Barcelona Open on Thursday.
The 11-time champion at his home club needed to come through a battle to overcome Kei Nishikori 6-0, 2-6, 6-3.
“I’m aware that things are complicated, if I had been able to win in Monte Carlo (he lost in the quarter-finals to Andrey Rublev), things might have been easier.
“What if’ is of no use. I’m not a big fan of those words because everyone has what they have and you have to live with it.
“I’m aware that I have competed little this year and that I have to go through difficult times.
“I take on the challenge and take on the difficulty that this entails.”
