Rafael Nadal has updated fans on the state of the foot injury which has ended his season early, posting a message on social media.

The Spaniard who skipped Wimbledon and managed two matches in early August at Washington was pictured on crutches while advising that progress is slow on his problem.

“Hello everyone, I have not communicated with you through social networks for some time,” the 35-year-old said.

“Tell you that I was in Barcelona with my team and the medical team, to receive a treatment on my foot that will haveĀ several days off and a few weeks off the court.
“Back home and in the process of recovery. Thank you all for your support,” the 20-time Grand Slam winner added on the eve of the US Open finalĀ  between Daniil Medvedev and Novak Djokovic.
