The world’s leading tennis players have begun arriving in Melbourne for a very different Australian Open due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Novak Djokovic, No. 2 Rafa Nadal and No. 3 Dominic Thiem have all arrived Down Under to prepare for a shorter version of the ATP Cup, new and relocated tournaments in Melbourne and Adelaide before the Open begins on February 8.
Players were checked through immigration before getting on charter buses to take them to their respective hotels to begin the 14-day quarantine period.
More flights are expected today and by tomorrow (Saturday) all 15 charter flights will have arrived.
