Andy Murray on Wednesday more or less nailed down his retirement date after taking a bitter 6-2, 6-4 loss to exit in the second round of the ATP Dubai event..
“I’m likely not going to play past this summer,” the three-time Grand Slam winner said after losing to France’s Ugo Humbert
“I get asked about it after every single match that I play, every single tournament that I play – I’m bored of the question, to be honest.”
The former No. 1 added: “I’m not going to talk more about that between now and whenever the time comes for me to stop.
“But I don’t plan on playing much past this summer.”
While specifying a timeline for stopping Murray hinted that he would be keen to play the Paris Olympics (from July 26) if possible.
“I’d love being part of that. It was one of the best experiences of my career, being part of the British team.
“When I got to carry the flag out in Rio (2016,,) it was an amazing, amazing moment.
“I love sport, so to get the chance to do that for your country was really special.”
