Medvedev keeps bid for first repeat title alive

Daniil Medvedev continued to press on Thursday for the first repeat title of his ATP career as he advanced to the Vienna quarter-finals with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 comeback win over Grigor Dimitrov.

The top seed who is defending the trophy from 2022 trailed 5-2 in the opening set as his veteran Bulgarian opponent raced away before being reeled in by the winner of 21 ATP titles.

After dropping the opener, Medvedev broke to start the second set as his fightback kicked into gear at the Stadthalle.

He advanced with 31 winners – including 14 aces – as he beat Dimitrov for the third time.

He now takes on Karen Khachanov.
