Manager hypes Kyrgios injury return

The manager of Nick Kyrgios could not be happier with the fast progress being made by his client after undergoing knee surgery last week.

Daniel Horsfall updated Melbourne sport radio SEN as to the state of play of the Wimbledon finalist who was forced by the injury to withdraw before his first match at the Australian Open.

The most likely target for a Kyrgios return would be the Indian Wells Masters, where the No. 20 will defend a quarte-rfial from 2022.

“The operation was great. We honestly couldn’t have chosen a better outcome,” Horsfall said.

“When he’s ready, we (his team) will be too. Right now he can only move his knee around at 70 degrees.”

The manager added: (We need to) understand what stage of his recovery he is in; we talk to the doctor every day, as well as his physical therapist.”

The manager also dropped a hint on timing: “He might even come back sooner than expected, which is great news. He’s at home playing Pokémon, enjoying the food that his mother makes, it is difficult to match that.”
