After several bouts of career threatening hip and wrist surgery since 2018 Laura Robson today posted on her Instagram account:-

“Today is a really good day. My first hit in over a year. I honestly didn’t think I’d make it back on court after the last surgery. It’s taken ridiculous amounts of rehab and hard work to get to this point so I’m very proud of myself today  Ps you can stop leaving comments asking if I’m retired now thnx. Laura”

26 year old Laura and former British No. 1 practiced at Roehampton for the first time today since her last operation and said she feared she would “never make it back on court”

“It’s taken ridiculous amounts of rehab and hard work to get to this point so I’m very proud of myself,” she added,

“I honestly didn’t think I’d make it back on court after the last surgery.”

Laura posted on her Instagram account this picture of herself in Positano in September 2020

Everything looked rosy for the 2008 Wimbledon Junior Champion who followed  that promise up with runs to the fourth round of US Open in 2012 and followed that up by reaching the same stage of Wimbledon in 2013.

She also won an Olympic silver in 2012 in the mixed doubles with Andy Murray and reached a career high World No. 27.

However she has not played since having to retire from a match in April 2019
