Kyrgios towel offer fails to impress

Nick Kyrgios got a surprise reaction when he went to help a fan who was hit in the face by a stray ball during his match against Tommy Paul at the Citi Open on Wednesday.

The Wimbledon finalist’s return of serve bounced off the court and hit a woman in the head as she sat in the front row behind the baseline.

Paul went over to check on the fan and Kyrgios then gave her one of his towels as a souvenir, but the elderly woman, who had recovered, turned to a spectator next to her and asked: “What is this for?”

Kyrgios went on to beat Paul 6-3, 6-4 to progress to the round of 16, where he’ll face fourth-seeded American Reilly Opelka.
