Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis thrilled a capacity Rod Laver Arena on Thursday as they stormed past Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos 7-6(7-4), 6-4 to reach the Australian Open Men’s Doubles final.

Kyrgios and Kokkinakis hit 13 aces and 32 winners to dominate the match as Kyrgios ran foul of the umpire – and the crowd – several times.

ā€œI have played a lot of singles matches around the globe with amazing atmospheres,ā€ Kyrgios said out of breath and excited.

ā€œBut this week with Thanasi playing in front of you, nothing beats this. This is insane.ā€

The pair will face Matt Ebden and Max Purcell in Saturdayā€™s final – an all-Australian menā€™s doubles event for the first time since 1980.
