Nick Kyrgios will still not commit to a January Australian Open appearance after spending nearly a year out of the game

The controversial ATP rebel told the Tennis Channel that he is still working on rehab after knee surgery 10 months ago which kept him off court save one losing match last June in Stuttgart.

The 28-year-old is working as a colour commentator for the American network during this week’s ATP Finals in Turin.

“So I’m doing everything I can to get back out there. Obviously, you know how injuries are every day, just doing the rehab, doing the gym work,” the player who lost his ranking in the autumn as they expired after a year said.

“After last year (2022 and his Wimbledon finals appearance), I had such a great year, and I’m so hungry to get back out there.

“But to be here and being able to watch (the Turin event) makes me more hungry to get out there,”

Kyrgios is also wearing a splint on his wrist and will not know the outcome of that injury until the bracing is removed in a fortnight.
