Veronika Kudermetova won the WTA Charleston title on Sunday with a perfect performance, coming through every match in straight sets to claim her first career trophy.
The Russian ranked 38th did not drop a set during her defeat of Danka Kovinic of Montenegro 6-4, 6-2.
Her run to glory duplicated the feat achieved by Serena Williams nine years earlier here.
Kudermetova won in 96 minutes; she is the fifth first-time tournament winner this season on the WTA.
“When I came here, I had confusion in my head from Miami,” the winner said. “I didn’t think I could win the title.
“I didn’t have a great preparation, but zi told myself to try and we will see how it goes.
“I focussed just on my tactics and my work on court, Match by match I played better and dominated each of them.
“All my matches were tough, there were a lot of nerves. I’m proud of myself for winning my first title.
“I hope I can continue to play like this.”
Kudermetova finished with 22 winners including six aces.
