Ninth seed Anett Kontaveit scored her maiden victory over Marketa Vondrousova 6-3,6-3 to reach the finals of the VTB Kremlin Cup in Moscow.
This will be her fifth final of 2021 having won her second and third career titles in Cleveland and Ostrava.
The Estonian has won 20 of her last 22 matches, and indoors is on a nine match win streak.
Her only only defeats have been to Iga Swiatek in the third round of the US Open and Ons Jabeur in Indian Wells.
Kontaveit delivered an almost perfect display of power tennis to take the match out of Vondrousova’s reach.
In Sunday’s final she will meet Ekaterina Alexandrova, whose opponent No.3 seed Maria Sakkari was forced to retire after suffering dizzy turns when 4-1 down in the first set of their semi-final.
Alexandrova’s win ensured a home player in Kremlin Cup final for the seventh consecutive edition of the tournament.
