Kanepi wins in Texas, Chicago next

Estonian veteran Kaia Kanepi saw off Kayla Day 6-2, 6-1 to win the ITF Tournament in Fort Worth, Texas on Sunday.

World ranked at 68, Kanepi’s victory brought up a unique double for Estonia, with Anett Kontaveit’s straight sets WTA victory in Ostrava over Maria Sakkari.

Kanepi now heads to Chicago for the WTA Chicago Fall Tennis Classic, which began yesterday.

She is drawn to play Jill Teichmann of Swizerland with Kontaveit to meet Madison Brengle of the US.
