Jabeur withdraws from Mexico finals

World No. 7 Ons Jabeur has withdrawn as the alternative at the WTA Finals in Mexico, still suffering from an elbow injury.

Jabeur, who won her maiden WTA title in Birmingham this year, said she needed time to recover and prepare for The Australian Open in January.

“I am sorry to announce that I won’t be able to go to Guadalajara as an alternate. I need more time to recover and prepare for next season,” Jabeur said on Twitter.

I am super proud of achieving my goal and my best ranking in the world: 7! Thank you for your support and see you next year.”
