Jabeur sails into Wimbledon weekend

Third seed Ons Jabeur overwhelmed France’s Diane Parry 6-2, 6-3 to reach the Wimbledon fourth round for the second straight edition on Friday.

The Tunisan who is setting a sporting example for the Arab world, played the quarter-finals here a year ago.

Jabeur advanced in 68 minutes as she broke Parry five times. The No. 77 challenger had 24 unforced errors compared to the 22 winners off the Jabeur racquet.

“It was a great match for me,” the winner said. “It’s tough to play young talented players like her.

“I’m pretty happy I got through in two sets. Hopefully I will keep playing this way.”

Jabeur tuned up for the Grand Slam with a Berlin title on grass and has not lost a set from three matches.

“I enjoy playing here, I had good preparation in Berlin. Coming to play on grass is amazing.”
