Injury scare for Djokovic ahead of Australian Open

Novak Djokovic suffered an untimely wrist injury during his 6-4,6-4 loss to Alex de Minaur in a United Cup play off game..

This was the Serb’s first defeat in Australia in 43 matches.

With the Australian Open only two weeks away this will be a major concern for the current Melbourne title holder.

The World No.1 previously called for action during the Davis Cup Finals about the week in week out change of balls on the tour.

This forces players to constantly adapt their game and several recent injuries have been blamed on non-standardisation of the balls used.

Nick Kyrgios was also quick add his voice on social media and demanded for urgent action to be taken by the ATP.

@NickKyrgios:- Change of balls every week finally got to novaks wrist the atp really need to do something about this problem. Players suffer all the time.
