Roger Federer is back on court, training at the Hyatt Regency in Dubai yesterday after arriving in the UAE with his family and trainer Ivan Ljubicic earlier this week.
Federer is scheduled to play warmup matches in Dubai before travelling to Melbourne mid-January to prepare for the Australian Open, which is scheduled to start on February 8.
The Swiss legend has not played since Melbourne in January of this year, undergoing two knee surgeries in February and May.
Federer plans to hit the form again by the summer, setting eyes on Wimbledon, Tokyo Olympics and the US Open as his main targets.
“I’m training hard, making that possible and I hope I can play in front of all you guys very very soon,” Federer said.
“Happy New Year and let’s hope it all gets better next year.
“So take care, and again, thank you, thank you, so so much, I’ll see you soon.”
