Halep back on court with win

Newly-married Simona Halep got off to a solid start at Indian Wells on Friday, defeating Marta Kotsyuk 7-6, 6-1.

Halep had also parted ways with coach Darren Cahill over the summer.

“It’s not easy, so many things are happening in my life, have happened actually,” Halep said.

“Now, though, I feel like more relaxed. Everything is set. I know what I have to do. I know how things are set.”

Halep confirmed that two days after thew wedding she was back in the gym training.

After a slow start to this match, she soon found form.

“It was a little bit tougher because I didn’t play for a long time before coming here, so I was a little bit nervous, and she played good tennis,” Halep said.

“The second set I felt much more confident.”
