shame Novak Djokovic into taking his COVID jabs.
The ATP No. 1 Serb has kept quiet about his vaxx status against the virus and if he refuses to take his jab will be barred under Victoria state law from entering the state for the major which begins on January 17.
“Novak has won the Australian Open nine times, but I’m sure he wants ten,” Tiley told SEN radio in Melbourne.
“He is tied at 20 Grand Slams with Federer and Nadal, I don’t think he wants to miss out on the opportunity to beat them.”
Djokovic has refused for months to let his intentions be known and seems to think protection against the pandemic is unnecessary in his case.
But with Australia taking the hard vaxx line, he has to be jabbed to play.
“Right now 85 percent of the players are vaccinated, we take this measure very seriously, that is why we have imposed it as a requirement to come here,” Tiley added.
“We believe that, when January comes, there will be between 90 and 95 percent vaccinated ; those who are not, will not be able to play.”
