Gauff guts opponent in Madrid massacre

Coco Gauff powered to the first double bagel of her career on Thursday, opening play at the Madrid Masters with a 6-0, 6-0 humbling of Arantxa Rus.

The American achieved tennis perfection after winning four previous matches in her career with the loss of just one game in a match – including achieving the feat twice in 2023.

The third seed saved all four of her match break points in the second game of the second set and converted on six of seven break chances; she ended with 14 winners and 10 unforced errors.
