Unpredictable Fabio Fognini was expelled from his second-round match at the Barcelona Open on Wednesday after insulting a linesman.

The decision gave Spain’s No. 147 outsider Bernabe Zapata Miralles a 6-0, 4-4 result at the Real Club.

Noted hothead Fognini is no stranger to outbursts on court and has paid the price in the past through fines.

But his latest incident makes the 33-year-old only the 10th ATP player to be DQ’d since 2000.

Fognini blew up after losing serve in the second set, with the tournament supervisor making the call to end the match.

The unfancied Zapata Miralles claimed his fourth career victory at the ATP level and moves him into a third-round match against compatriot and sixth seed Pablo Carreno Busta.
