The second round of the French Open begins today, with Serena, Rafa, Wawrinka, Halep, Azarenka, and Thiem all in action.
Serena Williams v Tsvetana Pironkova is a rematch from the US Open three weeks ago.
Tsvetana is 0-5 against Serena but the cool conditions in Paris are doing no favours to the Florida-based athletes, including Serena.
Dominic Thiem v Jack Sock is their third match-up in Paris, although the matches were indoors. Sock has steadily improved, and while he took out Pablo Cuevas in a five-setter in New York and beat American Reilly Opelka in the first round, this is a round too far with Thiem the firm favourite.
Rafael Nadal faces Mackenzie McDonald, a virtual unknown who reached the fourth round of Wimbledon two years ago and Stan Wawrinka meets Dominik Koepfer, after his impressive win over Andy Murray.
US Open finalist Alexander Zverev is matched with Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
Two-time champ Simona Halep is up against fellow Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu. She is 7-0 against her opponent, so don’t expect an upset there.
Frozen diva Victoria Azarenka faces Anna Karolian Schmiedlova, who took out Venus Williams.
