Rafael Nadal, Naomi Osaka and Novak Djokovic were all in action as fans returned to the game in the game in their droves.

Australian border closures and quarantine rules has seen the country have very few COVID-19 cases in recent months, with life returning to some form of normality.

Tennis will move to Melbourne next week, where tighter restrictions will apply.

Crowds at the Australian Open will be capped at 35 per cent – meaning that around 5,000 spectators could take in matches at the Rod Laver Arena.

Melbourne Park will be split into three zones in order to limit any potential spread of COVID-19.
