American giant John Isner will miss the Australian Open because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Isner told media of his decision on Monday after losing 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 to Sebastian Korda in the quarterfinals of the Delray Beach Open in Florida.
Isner, 35, said he wanted his family (he has two young children) to travel with him but because of there strict quarantine rules that would not be possible.
Meanwhile, Christian Harrison playing in his first career quarterfinal, beat Gianluca Mager of Italy 7-6 (2), 6-4, to set up a clash with No. 4-seeded Hubert Hurkacz of Poland, who beat qualifier Roberto Quiroz of Ecuador 6-4, 6-4.
Korda, 20, is the son of 1998 Australian Open champion Petr Korda.
