Evans suffers first round loss in Indian Wells

Roman Safiullin beat Dan Evans 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 to reach the second round of the Indian Wells,

British No. 3 Evans has just two wins from six tournaments this year.

Evans’ last victory was a 6-2 6-4 win over today’s opponent in The Los Cabos open last month.

But Safiullin avenged that defeat to hand the world number 45 a third straight loss.

Safiullin will next face American Seb Korda in the second round.
