Andy Murray has a week to make a late switch from grass to North American hardcourt as the inspired Scot looks to keep up his injury comeback rise in the rankings.
After reaching this week’s grass quarter-finals in Newport on the US east coast, the three-time grand Slam champion can expect to see a rise in his current No. 52 standing.
Murray will take next week to prepare for his pre-US Open start in Atlanta, to be followed by the ATP-WTA tournament in the US capital of Washington.
After ending the summer grass campaign with a 10-4 record (including at a Challenger) , the former No. 1 is keen to see where his game can take him after five years of injury dramas.
“I’ve had some ups and downs, but I’ve made progress overall. I will try to continue like this during the summer on hard court,” he said.
“I want to keep improving. If I keep seeing progress, I’ll keep playing.”
