Draper overcomes weather to reach Munich QF

Jack Draper did not let an early rain interruption mar his concentration on Wednesday as he reached the quarter-finals of the ATP Munich event.

The 46th-ranked Brit defeated German wild card Rudolph Molleker with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 comeback.

After dropping the opening set in 38 minutes, Draper returned after the weather pause to completely turn the tables in the remainder of the second-round match.

He moved into a tournament last eight for the third time this season after Adelaide and Acapulco.

“It was tough to come out and play,” the winner said. “But the sun came out and it felt better.

“I’m proud of how I played. You have to take whatever (circumstances) comes at you, it’s a challenge no matter what; I had to stay mentally strong.”

Draper will bid for the quarter-finals after advancing on his third match point in the 97-minute victory.
