Novak Djokovic and Filip Krajinovicv ousted Denis Shapovalov and Milos Raonic 7-5, 7-6 in a thrilling decider to earn Serbia a 2-1 win over Canada on day one of the ATP Cup.

The Serbs win 12 of the last 14 points from 5-4 down in the first set before the Canadians pushed them all the way to a tiebreak in the second, eventually losing 7-4.

Earlier Canada had taken a 1-0 lead after Milos Raonic overpowered Dusan Lajovic 6-3, 6-4.

Then world no.1 Novak Djokovic got there better of Denis Shapovalov 7-5, 7-5 in a hard fought match that lasted an hour and 53 minutes.

Novak and Denis were the rivals at the last year’s ATP Cup as well, with the Serb prevailing 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 after two hours and 40 minutes.

“It’s a great opening of the season. I hope all of you who came here enjoyed it because I certainly did,” Djokovic said after the match.
