Djokovic ‘trying’ to get to Melbourne

Serbian ATP Cup captain Dusan Lajovic believes Novak Djokovic still wants to play in the Australian Open.

Djokovic has repeatedly refused to say whether or not he is vaccinated and his appearance at the first Grand Slam of the year is still in doubt.

Speaking at a press conference in Sydney on Thursday Lajovic said the world mNo.1 was still trying to make to to Melbourne.

“Unfortunately he’s not able to come here but he was I think hoping, same as we did, that somehow he will be here. Unfortunately he’s not, and we’ve got to deal with it,” he said.

“He (Djokovic) just said that he’s not coming to the ATP (Cup) and trying to get to Australian Open.”
