Novak Djokovic will bury his Wimbledon disappointment, with the iron-willed Serb already looking for revenge after losing the Wimbledon final on Sunday to Carlos Alcaraz.
They Spanish youngster’s 1-6, 7-6 (8), 6-1,3-6, 6-4 victory in four and three-quarter hours, will sting the 23-time Grand Slam winner for some time
But Djokovic, who saw his Wimbledon win streak of 34 matches on the trot ended by the 20-year-old, has plans in the works.
“He’s going to be on the tour for quite some time. I don’t know how long I’ll be around.
“It’s been only three matches that we played against each other… three really close matches. Two already this year in later stages of Grand Slams Roland Garros semi-finals in May plus Wimbledon).”Djokovic added:
“I hope we get to play in the US Open (where Alcaraz is defending his first Grand Slam title in August)
“It’s good for the sport, No. 1 and No. 2 in the world facing each other in almost a five-hours, five-set thriller.
“There couldn’t be better for our sport in general, so why not.”
