Novak Djokokvic extended his autumn winning run to a lucky 13 matches with a 6-2, 3-6, 7-6(4) defeat of Stefanos Tsitsipas to move to within one victory of his seventh title at the Paris Masters.
The Serb who has now won his last 13 at the Bercy arena and holds six trophies at the event, has now defeated the Greek in their last eight matches.
Former No. 1 Djokovic will face off in the final against Holger Rune, who beat Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 6-2.
Djokovic scored a mini-break for a 5-4 lead in the final-set tiebreaker as a Tsitsipas volley clipped the net tape after a lengthy rally.
The sixth seed was quick to profit, taking victory after two and a quarter hours on his first of two match points.
Djokovic won his eighth semi-final at the event without a loss to improve to 9-2 over Tsitsipas, leader on the ATP this season with 60 victories.
It’s very sweet, obviously, when you win matches like this against one of the best players in the world,” Djokovic said.
” started the match very well, again, great hitting like yesterday in the quarters. I had chances early on in the second [twice at 30/30], I didn’t break his serve.
“The momentum shifted, the crowd got into it. I think he elevated his level of tennis.
“We went into an even battle all the way until the last point, until the last shot. Some incredible points towards the end. I’m just really glad to overcome this challenge.”
