Novak Djokovic has lent his support to fellow PTPA player group founder Vasek Pospisil as complaints by competitors over ATP COVID-19 administration grow increasingly more vocal..
World No. 1 Djokovic is among five Top 10 players who are not bothering with this week’s scaled-down Miami Masters, with the Serb working on his clay game during Monte Carlo training.
But after Canada’s Pospisil let loose in an expletive-filled tirade against ATP boss Andrea Gaudenzi’s pandemic planning during a match this week, Djokovic had little choice but to come to the aid of his fellow player.
“As far as current business is concerned, I’m not in Miami,” Djokovic tweeted,
“However, Vasek Pospisil is a good friend and I sympathise with him wholeheartedly.
“Players would easily agree that he is a person of integrity who cares about the well-being of his comrades all the time,” .
Djokovic later called for players to support Pospisil as the war of words over reduced prize money at tournaments and the difficulties of life inside a bubble which continue to trouble the men’s sanctioning body.
