Olympic champion Novak Djokovic on Thursday withdrew from next week’s Cincinnati Masters event.
The 37-year-old Serb who owns three titles at the event including last August, looks like heading into the August 26 US Open start without any hardcourt match play.
Djokovic, holder of 24 Grand Slam singles titles, completed his tennis resume at the Paris games as he beat Carlos Alcaraz for the gold medal.
“We certainly understand that it is a quick turnaround from his Olympic triumph to come to Cincinnati,” tournament director Bob Moran said in a statement.
“His title run here last year was so memorable. We are eager to see him on court again soon.”
