Novak Djokovic donned his superhero cape to rescue a young fan from a crowd crush after a French Open training session on Saturday, one day before the start of the clay-court major.
The third seed had completed a practice session with Karen Khachanov and was completing a slow loop around the Suzanne Lenglen stadium signing autographs and posing for selfies with enthusiastic spectators.
But during one particularly tense moment, a youngster straining to get a glimpse of the Serb found himself tumbling out of the stands and onto the clay below as dozens clamoured for a view of the player.
It was then that the 22-time grand Slam winner sprang into action, lifting the child out of danger and walking him across the court to his own bench where he administered some water and gave him an autograph,
The father of two then accompanied his young admirer during the return trip across the court and lifted him back into the stands.
