Alex de Minaur won the battle of the Aussies at Indian Wells on Sunday, beating John Millman 7-6, (7-4), 6-3 for his fourth straight career victory over his opponent.
Millman pushed the Australian No.1 in the first set to a tiebreaker but then fell away in the second set as de Minaur eventually won out in an hour and 40 minutes.
de Minaur will next play world No.3 Alexander Zverev or American Tommy Paul for a place in the last 16.
Meanwhile, wildcard Nick Kyrgios will face world No.8 Casper Ruud in the round of 32 on Monday.
Earlier on Sunday, Andrey Rublev saw off Dominik Koepfer 7-5 6-4 and others to advance to the third round included Matteo Berrettini, Hubert Hurkacz, Diego Schwartzman and Americans Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, John Isner and Steve Johnson.
