Cornet keeps up the concerns for “missing”colleague Peng

Alize Cornet on Tuesday expressed her continuing concern for the fate of tennis colleague Peng Shuai, who has been all but incognito for two months/.

The Chinese player’s social media voice was silenced in early November, less than half an hour after she posted details of what was painted as sexual agression over a period of years by a top Communist party official/

Peng, a two-time Grand Slam doubles winner, has basically gone silent ever since, with the WTA and fellow payers expressing concern for her safety inside China.

Cornet re-ignited the issue after losing to Naomi Osaka on Tuesday in a Melbourne tune-up event for the Australian Open.

“I’m still a little bit worried about her,” Cornet said after her first-round loss to Naomi Osaka in the Melbourne Summer Set on Tuesday.

“I have to say that this situation still makes me feel uncomfortable, and I don’t know how she’s doing.

“I really don’t know what to think about it anymore. I don’t know where is the truth and where are the lies,.” the 61st-ranked Frenchwoman said.

I’m just hoping for the best and hoping that she’s fine. I feel I don’t have the power to do something more.”to know what the effect was on her situation.

It’s not very clear …  I’m just hoping for the best and hoping that she’s fine I feel I don’t have the power to do something more.”
