Carlos Alcaraz’s rise through the ranks took another positive turn in Miami on Monday as he beat Marin Cilic 6-4, 6-4 to reach the fourth round of the tournament.

“I started the match well. It was important to get confidence at the beginning of the match,” Alcaraz said afterwards.

“Starting well was the key in the first set and it was important to be up in the match.”

“I think the crowd liked the way I played, with drop shots and playing hard. They love that style and I think here in Miami a lot of people speak Spanish.”

Alcaraz broke once in each set and saved the only break point in the second game of the first set as he dominated play throughout.

Alcaraz will face Stefanos Tsitsipas, whom beat Alex De Minaur 6-4, 6-3.
