Clijsters turns down AO wild card invitation

Former world No. 1 Kim Clijsters has turned down a wild card to play at the Australian Open to stay with her three children in Belgium.

Clijsters won the Australian Open in 2011 and has won four slam titles in her long career.

She made a come-back last year after seven years out of the game in Dubai, losing to Australian Open finalist Garbine Muguruza in the first round.

Clijsters lost to Ekaterina Alexandrova in the first round at the Australian Open in January 2020.
