Kim Clijsters will resume her comeback effort this month at the Miami masters, with the four-time grand Slam winner giving it all a fourth go in a year.
The Belgian based in New Jersey with her husband and children, first decided to return to the WTA in the pandemic season of 2020; it all ended badly with first-round losses to Garbine Muguruza, Johanna Konta and Ekaterine Alexanrova.
Clijsters, owner of 41 singles titles, won the title in 2005 and 2010; she last played the tournament in 2012.
“We are very excited to have Kim returning to Miami,” TD James Blake said of the event which will be played with a maximum of 750 spectators per day and will be staged on courts laid in a stadium parking lot.
“It’s not often you get the opportunity to see someone who has been inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame compete at an event of this level.”
