Cilic back on form in Singapore

Former world No.3 Marin Cilic began his quest for a ninth indoor ATP Tour title at the Singapore Tennis Open with a 7-5, 6-4 victory against Taro Daniel.

Cilic overcame the Japanese in 100 minutes, winning 82 per cent of his first-serve points on the way.

He will face eighth seed Soonwoo Kwon of South Korea in the quarter-finals. Kwon beat Thai-Son Kwiatkowski 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
