British No. 1 out in first round

Cam Norrie, the world number 12 and British number one, has been knocked out of the Australian Open in the first match by Sebastian Korda.

Korda is touted as a rising star in American tennis, at just 21 years of age he’s world number 43, and became a title winner in Parma last year.

The young American Broke serve immediately, and won the first set 6-3.

The second set saw another instant break of Norrie’s serve, and another two at the next opportunities, making a bagel, 6-0.

In the third set, the pattern continued and Korda took another break at the first time of asking, it was as one sided as the rest of the match and Korda took the set 6-4.

The final score was 6-3, 6-0, 6-4.

Cam Norrie has begun to accumulate a losing streak in 2022 of four matches, including the three losses at the ATP Cup, and will have to look for his first win elsewhere.

Norrie also lost in the first round of the US Open, to another young talent; Carlos Alcaraz.

Korda makes the second round in his first Australian Open, where he will face Corentin Moutet, another youngster at 22 years old, the Frenchman is the world number 100. It will be their first meeting.
