Boris family the guests in Djokovic courtside box

Novak Djokovic hosted the Brazilian girlfriend and son of jailed Boris Becker in his player box for Wednesday’s victory into the third round at Wimbledon.

The top seed who defeated Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 was coached for three productive years by the German, who is serving a two-and-a-half year sentence in London for bankruptcy fraud.

Djokovic is standing firm with the 54-year-old six-time Grand Slam champion in his darkest hour.

“I’ve just been trying to give support to people around him, his family members, because I consider Boris really a family member, someone that I greatly appreciate, respect, and care about,” the world No. 3 said..

“it breaks my heart to see what’s happening to him. I can only imagine how hard it is for his family members.

“So, of course, this is a little gesture of friendship to invite them.

“Boris knows and they know that they can always count on me for whatever support or help I can provide.”

Djokovic added that while he has not had direct contact with Becker (son) Noah and his younger brother Elias are going to visit Boris I think in the next few days for the first time since he went to prison.”
