Boris Becker has some advice for his former coaching pupil, with the Eurosport commentator advising the Serb he will never win a COVID vaccine showdown with Tennis Australia.
Djokovic has refused to reveal his vaxx status and could be banned from travelling to the country for January should he not be double-jabbed.
The word No. 1 Serb has said he will not as of now reveal anything – and Becker reckons that’s a stake-down his former pupil will never win.
“I can understand it (Djokovic’s attitude) ,” the six-time Grand Slam winner said.
“That is his right, that is privacy, that has to be protected.
“But if he wants to work as a tennis player, then unfortunately there are rules for all tennis players who want to go to Australia:
“The state of Victoria requires proof of vaccination. It is completely unimportant what we mean.
“If the Australian government has decided that way, there is only one solution”.
Djokovic has not played since losing a straight-sets US Open final six weeks ago to Daniil Medvedev.
And Becker believes Djokovic is still processing that heavy defeat which denied him an historic calendar-year Grand Slam sweep.
“Novak is still digesting the tremendous opportunity he could not take advantage of in the last US Open.
“It became a major emotional problem for him, things did not go as expected.”
