Spain’s Paola Badosa surged to a  6-3, 4-6, 7-6(4) victory over reigning French Open winner Barbora Krejcikova on Saturday to win the WTA Sydney tournament.

The title match at the last of the pre-Australian Open event between the two latest additions to the ranking Top 10 went for nearly two and a half hours, with momentum changes baked in.

No. 9 Badosa now owns three career WTA singles titles from the same number of finals.

The Spaniard has now beaten the Czech WTA No. 4 in all three of their meetings

Paula Badosa is now 3-0 in finals and has won her last 10 tiebreak sets

Badosa lost a 2-0 lead in the final set, but came through for victory in the decider in a match featuring a combined dozen break point chances with the winner 0-4 on conversions.
