Matteo Berrettini started the 2024 season in the worst possible way as the Italian was forced to quit the Australian Open with a foot injury.
The pullout of the former Wimbledon finalist put paid to a high-profile clash in the first round, with former Top 10 Berrettini due to have played seventh seed Stefanos Tsitsipas.
The Roman struggled with injury last season, undergoing a medical procedure on his right hand which set him back weeks.
He travelled to Australia full of optimism but had to withdraw from the Brisbane International.
