The back injury which kept Victoria Azarenka out of last weekend’s semi-final in Doha has forced the former No. 1 to withdraw from the WTA event this week in Dubai.
Officials released the news on Sunday, with the double Grand Slam winner to be replaced in the draw by Italy’s Martina Trevisan, a lucky loser from qualifying.
“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to play in Dubai this week as it’s not the best decision for me healthwise at the moment.
“I wish everyone a healthy and successful tournament, and hope to see you there next year.”
Spain’s Paula Badosa also pulled out for personal reasons and will be substituted by Japan’s Misaki Doi.
