Alexi Popyrin will be flirting with a Top 100 ranking after his Sunday career title breakout in Singapore with victory in that ATP 250 event.
The No. 114 becomes the second player this season to earn a first-time title after Brit Dan Evans did it at an Australian Open preliminary in Melbourne.
Popyrin overcame Alexander Bublik 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 in the final in the prosperous southeast Asian city-state. The winner posted 11 aces while breaking five times in less than 90 minutes,
Popyrin made his mark all week after never surpassing the quarter-finals of a Tour event previously; he reached the final on the back of a semi-final win over third seed and former US Open champion Marin Cilic.
