Australian John Millman broke through for his first career title on his third appearance in a final, defeating Adrian Mannarino 7-5, 6-1 on Sunday to win the ATP event in Kazakhstan.
The No. 45 Queenslander ran off his third victory against his French opponent, winning in one and three-quarter hours in the capital of Nur-Sultan.
Mannarino has had poor luck in finals winning one out of ten (Netherlands, June, 2019) he has played.
Millman becomes the fifth player this season to lift a trophy after saving match points during a tournament, which he did in his quarter-final against Tommy Paul.
The 31-year-old Aussie saved all six break points against his serve while breaking Mannarino three times.
