Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime will face Brit Dan Evans in the final of the ATP warm-up Murray River Open in Melbourne tomorrow after seeing off Frenchman Corentin Moutet of France 6-1, 6-2 in their semifinal today.
Evans beat Jeremy Chardy 6-2, 6-2 in his semifinal after Chardy had a walkover against Stan Wawrinka.
Evans will face fellow Brit Cameron Norrie in the first round of The Australian Open on Monday.
Evans will have played four matches in three days, but wasn’t complaining.
“It’s difficult to moan. We’re lucky we can come out here and just pretty grateful that we are still able to work with everything, which is a disaster at home really,” he said.
The 20th-seeded Auger-Aliassime will face German lucky loser Cedrik-Marcel Stebe in the first round this year.
