Ash Barty will dust herself off and carry on into the 2021 WTA campaign after a Wednesday brush-back in her Australian Open quarter-final with Karolina Muchova.
The Czech bounced Barty out with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 2 shocker to leave the world No. 1 pondering what went wrong.,
But instead of dwelling on the loss, the Queenslander will soldier on, planning her upcoming tournament schedule with her team.
For Barty and Co, safety comes first in another COVID-plagued season.
“We go back to work, we learn from this today,” she said. “Without a doubt it’s disappointing.
“We learn, we move on, we don’t let it ruin what has been a really successful, enjoyable start to a new season.
“The health of my team and myself will always be the priority; there is no nervousness because I feel like we’ll make the right decisions.
“That takes away any of the nerves or concerns knowing that when we travel, (the right health guidelines are in place.”
After sitting at home in Australia for most ot 2020 due to the pandemic, Barty is tentatively set to move to the Gulf for the WTA events starting March 1 in Doha and nearby Dubai.
It’s obviously it’s the first time we’ve looked to travel for quite some time now. We’ll sit back and kind of go through all of the health risks that are at this stage and to where we’re going, then we just work from there.”
